Great Salt Plains Lake was named because of the salt plains in the area, and visitors can dig for selenite crystals on the west side of the lake. Boating and swimming are also offered on the lake itself, while the surrounding park offers hiking, picnicking, hiking and mountain biking.

Also known as Markham Ferry Reservoir, Lake Hudson was created by the completion of the Robert S. Kerr Dam. The 4,900 hectare reservoir sits at 189 metres above sea level and features a 320 kilometre shoreline.
Snowdale State Park sits on the west side of the lake around 1.6 kilometres from the town of Saline. The park is a popular place for recreational activities, including water sports, hiking, volleyball, picnicking and fishing.

There are 11 parks sitting along the lake’s 336 kilometres of shoreline, as well as a swimming beach, a marina and a camping ground. The east side of the lake is home to the Will Rogers Country Centennial Trail, which winds around Lake Oologah for over 25 kilometres.
The lake is great for fishing for sand bass, largemouth bass, catfish, walleye and crappie. There are a few boat ramps that provide access to the lake, as well as docks.

2. Lamar - Most Oklahomans have never heard of Lamar and I believe that is a good thing. One look from above and you can see that there are hardly no roads leading into this area and that means more wildlife than anywhere in the state.
3. Woodward - The Woodward area is known for some of the greatest upland bird, wild turkey and whitetail deer hunting. Woodward is my choice for the best variety of hunting.
4. Okemah - Halfway between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Hunting and fishing opportunities are fantastic..
5. Mangum - The biggest wild turkey I have ever taken in my life came from Mangum.
6. Watonga - This town is perfect to take the family. There are plenty of camping areas including Roman Nose State Park, beautiful scenery and great gove, turkey, wild hog and whitetail hunting.
7. Newkirk - One of my favorites because of the abundance of wildlife. The whitetail deer here are heavier in weight because of all the nutrition surrounding the area.
8. Enid - It seems the pheasant population is growing more each year. You can really have some great ringneck shoots. Enid is home to some of the finest all-around hunting in Oklahoma.
9. Cleo Springs - One of my most memorable hunting leases with my dad was near Cleo Springs. This is where we have taken some of our biggest bucks.
10. Cheyenne - Perfect area to see all sorts of game. In my opinion, it is home to the best public hunting in Oklahoma, the Black Kettle WMA. A short drive to many great hunting and fishing opportunities in western Oklahoma.
